AtenPly Prepregs are thin sheets of continuous
reinforcement fibres impregnated with thermoplastic resin. AtenPly
is named after the Egyptian sun god Aten. It is made direct from
the fibre roving and thermoplastic melt using proprietary technology
developed by Imhotep Ltd. This cost effective efficient
process produces light weight, high-strength ,well impregnated,
smooth tape with unidirectional fibre reinforcement.
AtenPly
prepregs are available
in carbon, glass or aramid fibres with matrix polymers from commodity
polymers polyethylene, and polypropylene through to engineering
plastics such as PET and polyamides to high performance plastics
such as PEEK and PPS. Due to the way it is manufactured additives
for performance enhancement or aesthetic reasons can be added.Read

New
Commingled line and more profiles
Imhotep Ltd now has a production
line devoted to the production of profiles from commingled fibres.
They have extended their range of standard profiles to include
pultrusions in glass/PP, glass/PET and carbon/PEEK . Please see
the commingled
pultrusion page
for details of standard profiles and development facility for
bespoke profiles and products.
Expansion
of Imhotep Ltd
Due to persistent customer demand for their innovative
thermoplastic composite profiles and prepregs to operate in higher
performance applications and more extreme environments Imhotep
has invested in a new high-temperature production facility enabling
the use of high performance plastics such as PEEK and PPS with
continuous carbon, aramid or glass fibres. A new range of coated
thermoplastic composite profiles and prepregs are now in development.
New
Test Facility
The investment at Imhotep has also seen
the installation of a new testing facility to provide full evaluation
and characterization of its profiles and prepregs to give customers
quantified data on performance. It has also enabled Imhotep to
introduce improved process and quality control procedures. Data
sheets coming soon- watch this space.
New
