The possible combinations of fibres and matrices are immense. We can and have processed different types and brands of continuous carbon, aramid, and glass fibres be they off the shelf or prototype. From this we do have a knowledge base on sizes (coatings on the fibre) any necessary coupling agents, and appropriate fibre handling. We do have our favourites for different applications and products but are willing to try anything.
The choice in thermoplastics is much greater than for thermoset composites. We have processed many polymers, copolymers, and blends from HDPE, repro PP, through polyamides and thermoplastic polyesters to high temperature plastics such as PEEK and PPS. We use the lower viscosity grades. The only ones we have found that we really do not like are PVC and any in that family as they tend to dissolve our tooling. This problem is not insurmountable but would require a dedicated line.
