AtenPly is named after the Egyptian sun god Aten continuing the Egyptian theme with Imhotep the first engineer who became a god renowned for his expertise in engineering, medicine, and administration.

 Properties of AtenPly GPE45 prepreg:

AtenPly Prepregs are thin sheets of continuous reinforcement fibres impregnated with thermoplastic resin. It is made direct from the fibre roving and thermoplastic melt using proprietary technology developed by Imhotep Ltd. This cost– effective efficient process produces light weight, high-strength, well impregnated, smooth tape with unidirectional fibre reinforcement.

AtenPly GPE45 variations

AtenPly GPE45 in a variety of finishes and coloursAlthough AtenPly GPE45 is specified in specific widths and thicknesses- other dimensions are available to order.
AtenPly can be manufactured using a wide range of grades of polyethylenes including copolymer, or catalysed metallocene grades.
AtenPly can incorporate Colours, UV stabilisers, coupling agents, carbon black and many other additives.

Importance of impregnation

AtenPly high degree of impregnationHigh performance applications demand a high quality prepreg with a high degree of impregnation. AtenPly has such good impregnation that this glass/PP AtenPly prepreg can be read through. The high impregnation allows low pressure moulding giving greater processing flexibility.

Processing of AtenPly

 AtenPly is processed by heating above the melting point of the matrix and consolidating with pressure. Since there is no chemical reaction there are no emissions of volatiles. The high level of impregnation in the prepreg allows low pressure moulding for high performance products giving greater processing flexibility.
